Nine 90cm LED grow light strips, with the connecting cords to link them in series.

Layout. Nine separate tubes let you run light along a bank of plants, down both sides of a system, or across a tent, instead of hanging one fixture and living with the pattern it throws. A row of plants wants a line of light, not a spot.

In series, with flexible connecting cords. That means one supply feeds a run rather than needing a socket per strip, which is most of the installation saving.

The strips are designed to be chained, and the practical limit is what the supply and the connecting cords are rated to carry. Do not exceed what the instructions state for a single run, and split into two runs if you need to.

18 watts. Nine of them running together is 162 watts, which is modest for the coverage it gives.

It means the output is not tuned to one stage of growth. A light heavy in blue suits seedlings and leaf, one heavy in red suits flowering. Full spectrum covers the range, which is what you want from a single set of lights doing the whole job.

The manufacturer states R:W 1:2, R:B 4:1 and W:R:B 1:2:3.

The stated life is 30,000 hours. Run twelve hours a day, that is roughly seven years. Like all LED figures it is the manufacturer's rating rather than a warranty period.

They run cool for their output compared with older grow lighting, which is why an aluminium body is used: the metal carries heat away from the LEDs. They still get warm, so leave a little air around them rather than sandwiching them against fabric.

Yes, and a square tent is a good use for them. Nine strips let you lay out even coverage across the footprint rather than having one bright patch in the middle and shadow at the edges.

That is what they are for. The warehouse record describes this lamp as the one for the 36 and 108 cup systems. A shorter lamp exists for the 11 cup system, and we do not stock it, so for a single 11 cup tub one or two of these mounted above it is the practical answer.

Yes. Seedlings need light more than they need intensity, and a strip run above a propagation tray gives even coverage without cooking them. Keep them a sensible distance back and watch for stretching, which means the light is too far away.

The manufacturer lists fruit production, plant propagation, indoor gardening and hydroponics. In practice that is herbs, salad, leafy greens, succulents and flowering plants.

The supplier's own copy makes that claim and we are not going to repeat it, because taste depends on the variety, the nutrients, the temperature and when you pick. What a grow light reliably does is let you grow at all in a place or a season where there is not enough daylight.

Close enough that plants do not stretch towards them and far enough that leaves do not scorch. Start around 20 to 30 cm for leafy crops and adjust by watching the plants: stretched, pale growth means too far, curled or bleached tips means too close.

Leafy crops and herbs do well on somewhere between 12 and 16 hours. Plants need a dark period too, so running them continuously is not better. A plug timer is the easiest way to get this right.

You do not need one, but a cheap plug timer removes the only part of lighting that depends on you remembering. It is the single most worthwhile accessory.

Not as supplied, and they should not be put on a household dimmer switch. Adjust the light your plants get by moving the strips or changing how many you run, rather than by dimming.

Aviation grade aluminium with fibreglass panels and a clear polycarbonate cover over the LEDs. The aluminium is structural and thermal rather than cosmetic.

The manufacturer states no flickering and no noise. Flicker in cheap LED lighting comes from the driver, and it is worth noting because it is unpleasant to work under even if the plants do not care.

Treat them as indoor fittings near water rather than as waterproof. Keep them above the system, not beside a splashing return, switch off at the socket before cleaning, and do not spray a lit strip.

Wipe the covers when dust builds up. Dust on the lens costs you light, and it accumulates faster in a grow space than in a normal room.

A tube size standard, originally from fluorescent lighting, describing the diameter. It matters mainly because it tells you the physical form: a slim tube rather than a panel or a bulb.

Yes. Vertical strips down the sides of a tall system are a good way to light plants that would otherwise only get light from above, which is worth knowing if you are lighting a tiered system.

Tell us. Because they link in series, it is worth checking the connectors either side before assuming the strip itself has gone, as a bad joint looks exactly like a dead lamp.

For leafy crops and herbs, yes, that is what people use them for. Growing entirely under lights is normal practice for these plants and does not need a window at all.
